I’ve loved every book I’ve received! Literally the only issue was I already owned one of the book I was sent. That’s how good the selections are.
The Page 1 matchmakers really listen to your profile and aim to please! I’ve received an epistolary novel and some wonderful, deep literary fiction that I would never have known about otherwise. Love Page 1! ❤️
I loved how it was interesting from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down!
I loved that the book that was chosen was exactly what I was hoping for!! It looks super interesting and is something new that I had never heard of! It fell exactly into the specifications of books I liked and didn't like!!!
I absolutely love your choice of the Lions of Fifth Avenue. I hadn't read Fiona Davis before but intend to check out her other books. Your selection was superb and I look forward to your next selection.
WHAT A GREAT AUTHOR/BOOK!
I love that there is so much in my favorite genre (cozy crime) that I hadn’t discovered and maybe had not picked up if it wasn’t for my subscription. You all do a fabulous job of picking the right books for me. I’ve enjoyed every one of them and you find such diverse books in the genre. Keep it up! I love it.
Love everything about it!
To the book being beautifully bound upon arrival, to the perfectly selected novel, I am floored by how great this subscription is. I was nervous about the book being something I’ve already read, but it was a timeless classic I’d never even heard of! I devoured the book and cannot wait for next month’s to ship. I’m hooked!
I love books. I also like the surprise and getting out of my usual of you picking something for me.
I love Elizabeth Strout and her new book, LUCY BY THE SEA, did not disappoint!! It is fun getting newest books by favorite authors!
Enjoyed a Dark Vanessa, spot on my kin of book!
Haven’t quite finished AND THEN I WOKE UP yet but I’m truly enjoying it. Very scary as “the narrative” is all too real these days! And totally on brand for what I like to read!
everything! It's so much fun to get mystery books every month. I plan to renew several more times!
Depressing story with lots of death. Maybe send a mystery novel.
You paid attention to my request and sent me a book exactly in line with what I am looking for.
Totally love true crime so my first book was a total win! I like to mix it up between fiction and non-fiction. How about a psychological thriller fiction novel next??
You need to get your membership files together. I've been a Page 1 subscriber for at least two years, maybe two and a half. When my membership was coming up for renewal, your system didn't recognize my existing status -- and even now, I'm being treated as if I'm a new member who just subscribed.
I do really like Page 1 books, that's why I've renewed twice for a full year.
Enjoyed my first 3 month subscription, so much that I did a second three months when it
Have enjoyed the variety of authors you have sent and look forward to next months
I love the fantasy world the author has created, it's very unique and keeps me on my toes.
Took nearly 8 weeks to receive first book, but I loved the book!
So happy with my subscription! Both of the books I've read so far were ones I hadn't heard about and that I enjoyed. Even the covers were compelling (although we all know that's not supposed to be impt). Special appreciation to the person(s) who took the time to make great selections :)
Despite being more atmospheric and less plot-driven, which typically is not my preference, the style of the first selection, Creatures, made sense its unpredictable context of addiction. The author's capture of contrast between inner struggle and outward expression and her reflection of change over time in understanding was so realistic. It held my interest the whole time.
I was also quite immersed in Levy's little world and all its metaphorical representations in the second read. What You can See From Here was careful and clever, but not silly. The novel had an orginal story that was dimensional and fully told with sophistication in its emotional tone. I loved it!
Finally, I haven't gotten to the last book, The Promise, yet, but am most looking forward to this final choice. Thank you, Page One Books!!
It was exciting opening my first box from Page 1, and I've very much enjoying my book! I do have a question for you, though. My niece who sent me the subscription as a gift has a Page 1 stemless wineglass that I really like. Do you have an online shop where I could purchase one of those for myself?
I was so pleased with the books and introduction to new authors from the last subscription that my daughter had given me, that she gave me another subscription: win-win of a perfect gift for me and easy for her. This time, instead of merely being pleased with the first book I have received, I was literally stunned by what an incredibly awesome personalized yet off-my-radar perfect book they selected which addressed an important part of my life (being a pianist serious enough to have passed juries at a conservatory in France) that has nothing to do with my medical career; I had barely mentioned a few music-related books in the background I provided. Yet somehow they selected such a wonderful book that not only is great reading, but the author even provides a playlist of music to listen to for each chapter. Page One Books did an amazing job of synthesizing what I wrote, or perhaps put in additional effort researching me online. They have opened new vistas of reading for me! THANK YOU, PAGE ONE BOOKS!
I was surprised to only receive 1 book. I was gifted the $99 subscription package. If I receive 1 book a month, isn't that $33 for each paperback book?
No serial killers, romance, or spy novels.
I am so impressed by the book I was given! I got the paperback of NIGHTB*TCH. I haven’t started it yet, but based on the description, it seems right up my alley! I love horror with weird surrealist undertones, especially when there’s some underlying commentary on feminism, womanhood, race, etc. (pretty specific, I know, but that’s what made the choice so impressive)! I honestly expected to be given something that was already on my TBR (which would’ve been okay, but I specifically picked this book subscription to get books that weren’t previous on my radar), but to my (pleasant) surprise I was given something that both fits my interests AND was not previously on my radar!! I can tell that my “literary matchmaker” knew their stuff lol. I’m only on my first month, and I am BEYOND impressed!! Even if I find I don’t love the novel after I’ve read it, I am still nevertheless impressed and happy with my choice. I cannot wait to get my second one!!
For my next one, I trust the literary matchmaker wholeheartedly, so I trust them to pick within any genre in my interests. I pretty much love most horror, so it doesn’t necessarily always have to be lit-fic horror like this one (although I do love this selection)! I also love lit-fic, mystery-thrillers, and crime-fic (among others).
As a side note, this came a lot earlier than I expected, so that was amazing as well. The goody was also really cute, and everything was really cutely packaged :)
I can't even explain how happy my book deliveries make me!
I loved the romance books! But now I’m on sort of a fantasy kick after reading Six of Crows. I would like to see your recommendations in that genre.
Detective type ‘who done it’ type books
Page 1 is the best book subscription I have had! It is clear that you make a real effort to personalize the books based on my profile, which makes such a difference. You have introduced me to new authors, new stories but each one has been a real delight. I was pleasantly surprised by the Jenny Lawson book 'Broken (in the best possible way)' I had never heard of her before so picked the book up with no expectations at all and it has been great! So, so funny (a-trying-to-repress-laughter-on-the-subway sort of book!) but at the same time very touching, it's been hard to put down! I also really value the diversity of voices and experiences I get from the books you choose (something that was so often missing from previous book subscriptions!) Thanks for all your work, it's very much appreciated!
I liked the size of the books you send me it gives me enough time to read them before the next book comes.
Such a great club! Love that it’s a surprise!
I am sadly at the end of my three month gift subscription. Fortunately for me, my birthday is coming up and guess what I requested! This has been the best present ever. It is such a fun surprise each month to open my box and unwrap my book. My selections were perfect for me!
Very fun. Like the book. Like the gift concept.
I'd love to purchase as a gift for my goddaughter at some point, but when I activated the gift I received, I had to pay the tax! I didn't mind so much but a gift should be a gift. You should find a way to fix that.
Although I'm only into a few pages of reading, I am impressed with how the author, Christina Thompson, is able to describe details that places the reader's imagination as being present in the events.
So happy I have a subscription for Page One Books!! The team really understand the books I like and I continue to receive books I've never heard of. It's like a little birthday or holiday gift once a month!!
I absolutely LOVE this book - She Who Became the Sun. Brilliant, well-written, engaging. Kind of like the feminist retellings of the Greek mythologies. You guys rock. For the next book, any way you can introduce me to a new period piece? I love Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, the Brontes, Elizabeth Gaskell, Bridgerton. If not, no worries. But honestly, this last book was so good, keep up the good work!
I like the book choice. It is very interesting and I enjoy reading it
You chose Horse by Geraldine Brooks for me, and I am LOVING it - thanks!
So happy to get a book & author I've never heard of. I'm really enjoying the suspense and the writing. I thought for sure I would get something I had already read for my first book. Great job!

I have enjoyed many novels by writers from the "Golden Age" of mystery writing, but J. Jefferson Farjeon's book, "Thirteen Guests", was a very enjoyable discovery. I found his writing style intelligent and the plot of the story, although basically an English country house murder mystery, not at all predictable. I look forward to searching out and reading additional books by this author in the future. Thank you Page 1 for introducing me to this wonderful author.
Good story. Not a lot of cursing
I haven't had a chance to really dig into the collection of short stories I was sent for my June pick (Clarice Lispector, _The Complete Stories_). I read the first and enjoyed it, and look forward to reading more.
Sadly, I didn't get around to reading what I was sent in May until this week! However, I loved it. I had never heard of John Williams' _Stoner_ (how is that possible?!); I enjoyed it immensely. It was a very moving book, and its exploration of the life of an academic was familiar and touching. I found the representation of his relationship with his wife a bit difficult to take for gender reasons, but it was the only part of the book that felt not quite right.
I have enjoyed opening the packages, too -- there is nothing as lovely as unwrapping a book, not knowing what it will be! I also love the little gifts that come with the books -- the Pride magnet from the June box went straight from the box to the fridge. :)
Thank you for your selections; I look forward to the July package!
I like the author's writing style. It has a nice flow that keeps me reading. I have become engaged in the experience the main character is caught up in. I believe the author has been diligent with her research into the time period and political turmoil she has chosen. I enjoy getting a little history thrown in with a good plot.
I love the subscription and thought put into selecting this read. It was right up my alley and I couldn’t put it down. I devoured it in two hours! However, I’m more of a literary fiction kind of gal and like novels with a bit more complexity, especially ones that use the act of writing and forms of rhetoric and syntax to enhance the meaning of the text (e.g. Gertrude Stein, James Joyce, Donna Tartt, etc). Regardless, I love occasional quick and gripping reads that immediately draw you in, like this one. I’m so impressed by the team’s ability to select cinematic books that tackle the issues and themes I care about. One genre I’d like to explore a bit more is fantasy or sci fi. I’m never quite sure how to pick those for myself and it’s important that they’re well-written! Otherwise I get got up in typos and continuity errors.
I cannot wait for next month and am so, so impressed.
I just got my first book over a week ago. I have enjoyed it so far. It's right in my interest zone. Thank you very much!
I liked the flirtatious build up! Also the modern day Thirty something story line. Really can relate to the feelings.
Enjoying the book completely. Arrived just as we hit a warm
spell. Perfect excuse to stay indoors.
I am almost done with this book and I am loving it! But, I think I’d like a fiction book next.
I am enjoying the larg print. The book you sent was by one of my favorite authors. Keep up the good work.

Have just started reading this book, so cannot comment on it yet! Love the author and thought I had read everything she wrote. These stories are ones I enjoy!
I haven’t finished reading the first book that was sent to me. Immediately upon receiving the book, I read the back and got super excited. So far I am really impressed with the book selection and I am enjoying reading it! I wish it was possible to get two books a months because the book is so good, it is not going to last much longer.
This was the perfect book! I am blown away. Thank you!
I never heard of the author, but am enjoying the book.
I liked the inclusion of a book mark and a magnet for pride! Yes, I would have preferred a pin, but the magnet is so beautiful and the sentiment is sweet. The actual book is perfect. Thank you for asking if I wanted paperback books so I can curl the pages grippingly. The genere is spot on. I love reading about other peoples struggles so I know I am not alone and I’ve never heard of this author! She is phenomenal. I do hope in the future you beautiful darlings mix in some non-bestsellers too, but at the end of the day I LOVE it! Thank you.
So far I am loving this book! They listened very well to what I had requested!!
Perfect choice - an author I had tried previously (Homegoing) but I hadn’t been in the head space to embrace it. So I definitely wouldn’t have sought this book out, but it is a great read - super accessible, engaging, and a premise / metaphor / conundrum that is universal and yet fascinatingly specific to the protagonist. Loving this!
I loved that you picked a newer book that was similar to one of the books I wrote about in my description!
Very good choice. Had not heard of this author, perfect.
I have LOVED this subscription! My last book, The Star Crossed Sisters of Tuscany, was the perfect book to get lost in. I'm a mood reader, and this was definitely the right book at the right time. I loved the strong sense of place, and the romantic storyline that wasn't corny and really had depth. I have throughly enjoyed the variety of books that I've been sent and can't wait for the next one!
I really liked this book. It was just a little too wordy at times.
I was very pleased that you selected this book with so little background information from me. The author was new to me too. I know I need to update my profile so that you can provide more good books.
This book couldn't have been more perfect for me - it was an amazing choice for my interests!
It had a very slow start. I nearly gave up on it since the first act was so slow, but it was great once I made it to Part 2. I like books that get started a little quicker.
Loved this book! I think I have a new favorite author. I enjoyed the writer’s style a lot, specifically that the main characters were written to have wit and the intimate storylines were described in a classy way. I’m a romantic person, so I of course found it thoroughly satisfying that the main characters fell in love. As a young mom, I usually enjoy reading about motherhood but this main female character was a pleasure to read about. The ending was predictable but I didn’t mind that at all, even sometimes I find comfort in that. Again, amazing first choice! I’m so excited for my next book!
The book is right in my usual genre choice, so I was super happy.
And I loved the little book-themed earrings that came with it.
I liked the genre!
I liked how all the stories of the James, Hazel, Aubrey, and Colette came together and we get to know what the rest of their lives are like at the end of the book.
I got a book that I had actually been really looking at and meaning to buy. I'm soo happy I got it and it is now at the top of my TBR list of the books I will actually read.
I'm not the simpering weak female heroine type. They make me want to shoot them. I enjoyed my first read, "Reminders of Him". It had an intriguing plot.
I really very quickly and I finished that first book in about 5 hours. I would LOVE the option to have the next selection shipped more quickly that a pre-determined time frame. I'm sure other customers would like this too. Hey, if I burn through them all, then I'll want to buy more, right?
Sea of Tranquility was a wonderful book for me! Thanks! I’m looking forward to my next Page 1 delivery!
So far, I have received three of my books. I haven't had time to read them all yet, but they sound so interesting! Whoever is choosing books for me is doing an amazing job! I am waiting for summer to be able to read them. It's amazing how you know what books I would enjoy! Thank you!!
While I have enjoyed the selections so far I would like more along the lines of New York Times Best seller books. It is totally my fault since I didn't elaborate on my interests. I also would enjoy an Historic Novel or a human interest story.
It was on my TBR list. Thanks!
Avoid heavy, tragic, emotionally draining stories....too much in the daily news. I want lighter, uplifting, happy, entertaining stories.....reading is my relaxation and escape.
Enjoyed the book. Would like a mystery
My first Page 1 book “Surviving Savannah” arrived just in time to read at the beach. Read, walk on the beach, read - perfect! Every time I looked at the ocean, I thought about Augusta and Lilly. And I moved South from the same Midwest county mentioned late in the book. So, I felt a special connection. Love the research that went into this novel. Inspired me to continue my own ancestry pursuit, and I found some stories that I’d like to weave into a book.
I've been subscribed for over a year now and have really enjoyed the experience. I have found new favorites that I have either never heard of or wouldn't have picked up otherwise! I love seeing what they picked out!
The few times I haven’t liked the book picked out the process was simple to get a replacement and the customer service has been phenomenal.
I enjoyed this book! I never would have selected this title on my own Thank you for expanding my literary world.
Good family story with child leading the dialogue.
I enjoy receiving the books very much
Got my first book that I had already read. Going to pass it on. Worried about this happening again as I am an avid reader averaging 3-5 books a week from the library or Kindle free books.
I just got it today but just renewed my subscription for this year. Loved the selections from last year. You all rock.
I haven’t had a chance to read the book yet but I’m so excited about the book chosen for me!
The Mystery of the Exploding Teeth is fascinating, informative, and often funny. It is not a book that I would read continuously from cover to cover. Rather, I will keep it near the current book I'm reading and pick up this one to read a few of the stories before returning to my novel. I will pass this book to my brother when I'm finished; he will love it!
I've really loved all of the books that I've read from Page 1. The only one that I was "meh" about was "Infected" b/c the writer used misogynist language especially when describing women. Very clearly written by a man for men who want to believe they'd be uber strong/manly if confronted with a mind-controlling parasite. We didn't need to hear about how unattractive and weak the infected woman was. I felt like it was glorifying domestic violence by bringing the family violence history into the forefront as a reason the main character was able to "fight" the parasite - the strong, violent, and drunk men will survive no matter the cost. I liked the premise (esp during the pandemic), but I did not care for the author's voice.
Enjoying the first book very much.
It was delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Beautifully wrapped. Perfect genre. Looking forward to my next book.
I liked the variety of books I received. I also liked the combination of new releases and backlist books. All were quality selections aligned to my interests. I also broadened my knowledge of authors I like. Several books were initially unfamiliar, but have since become 5 ⭐️ favorites.

I love the whole Page One experience. I look forward to my book every month and am never disappointed. This is my second subscription and highly recommend to all the avid readers out there.
I love historical novels and I also love books about strong women. The first two books I received were spot on. Getting a new book each month is certainly something to look forward to. Thank you.
I loved the puzzle. Once I was done with it I brought it my library (I'm an elementary librarian) and kids LOVE working on it! :)
Page 1 Books has been great so far! I'm waiting for book #3 but the first two have been awesome. Can't wait to see what my third month has in store. This was the best christmas present I've received in years. Such a creative and personalized gift each month!
David Sedaris, Jenny Lawson I know they is popular but I do not appreciate or enjoy snarky and sometimes mean spirited books.
I loved that between just 2 months I've had two very different books (great beach read fiction and fantasy series) which were both well written and were perfect for me. I love the variety and that they suited me. They did a great job finding me my Perfect reads! I still have 4 months and can't wait to see what's in store :)
